16 May 2014 an international conference Current Research in African Studies (In Honour of Dr. Eugeniusz Rzewuski) was organised by the Department of African Languages and Cultures.

We were honoured to host many prominent guests who presented their papers. These were from Africa: prof. Bento Sitoe and prof. Armindo Ngunga from the Eduardo Mondlane University, prof. Michel Lafon from the Pretoria University; from America: prof. Marina Tolmacheva from Washington State University, and from Europe: prof. Bernd Heine from the University of Cologne, prof. Christa König from the Goethe University, prof. Karsten Legère from the Göteborg University, dr Maud Devos from the Leiden University, prof. Sergio Baldi and Annachiara Raia from the University of Naples, and prof. Anna Kalewska and prof. Stanisław Piłaszewicz from the University of Warsaw.

Dr. Eugeniusz Rzewuski was an honourable guest of the conference.
