March, 2007 - Dr. Matthias Brenzinger from the University of Cologne (Germany) visited the Department and between 4th and 7th of March presented the following lectures: "Conceptual Loss in Space and Time", " Language Diversity and Poverty", "What is Language Endangerment", "Languages without Numbers".

more »May, 2007 – Prof. Gaël Brunet from INALCO (Paris) visited the Department and on 10th May delivered two lectures: 1. "The Beginnings of Cinema in Africa”, and 2. "The Most Important Personages of the African Cinema”.
more »October, 2007 – Prof. Rudolf Leger from University of Frankfurt delivered four lectures: "The 'Urheimat' of the Proto-Hamitic/Afrasian Speaking Peoples and Their Early Migrations with Specific Reference to the Chadic Speaking Groups", "An Overlook about the Kwami and its Pecularities ('Northern' Bole-Tangale Group)", "Methods of Linguistic Field Research", and "Verbal Classes and Middle Voice - West Chadic and Fulfulde (a Comparative Approach)".
more »October - November, 2008 – Yakubu Magaji Azare, M.A., from the Department of Nigerian Languages, Bayero University, Kano was attached to the Department and continued his research on „A Morpho-Semantic Study of Hausa Concrete Deverbal Forms”. On 20th October he presented the results of his work during the staff meeting.
